A way of making Europe
The lack of drivers is a reality, both in Spain and in the European Union, a fact that represents a structural problem that requires deep measures and efforts to be solved, both by the Public Administration and private initiatives.
At Selectrans we are committed to the introduction of women in the transport sector, especially in the road freight sector. In Spain, only 2% of heavy goods vehicles are driven by women, compared to Italy and Germany, which are the countries with the highest presence in Europe, with 7% and 5%, respectively.
Our commitment to a greater female presence in the sector is materialized in tangible actions that generate the ideal framework to adapt and connect women to a sector that, to this day, is still highly masculinized. We change the framework to make things happen together.
At Selectrans we identify the incorporation of women into the professional transport sector as a natural way to solve the challenge of the lack of drivers, and we have a system that generates the necessary framework for this to take place. The benefits of our model are as follows:
We grant this accreditation only to companies that comply with our code of conduct, which generates a guarantee for the drivers. In the event of conflicts or possible non-compliance, we have a complaints channel to channel the necessary solutions, the most forceful measure being the withdrawal of the company's seal.
We provide an accompaniment service during the first months of hiring to support the integration of women in the company and offer training in key fields to stand out in the sector.
The publication of job vacancies for women is subsidized by 50 to 90% compared to the general rate, which is directly supported by Selectrans. In this way, we also provide economic incentives to companies to publish vacancies reserved for women.
We classify job offers that meet the premium standards as an outstanding position, a situation that denotes optimal conditions for entry into the industry.
We promote relations with the Public Administration at all levels and count on their support in key aspects, such as advice and review of our processes, as well as visibility, aid and training in the field of equality in heavy freight transport.
